Kudos to Bhoomija for hosting this awesome concert on an instrument so intrinsic to carnatic music along with the Veena - both of which are fast disappearing. Hearing him first time live - thoroughly enjoyed it. Bhairavi was superb... brought back memories of another bhairavi heard 15 years back on the wind instrument by the great AKC

It was also traditional in the sense that start to finish it was just music no speeches, vote of thanks - and no announcements of songs/ragas/talas - so I may be seriously off :)

GG
Glad you liked it.
I left halfway during Bhairavi when he was busy crafting Balamuralisque phrases.
Sorry except the Tavil vidwan on right of nagaswaram (kuchi facing us) I found the ensemble mediocre. There are better pipers in Bangalore today.

Of course Bhumija deserves our congrats and best wishes on their 3rd anniv. But they need to feature much better vidwans if this is any indicator of their programming skills. I also told them on FB that the correct spelling is Nagaswaram. No d.

Comparisons are odious. But the Desur Selvaratnam I heard in Kanchi Kamakshi temple was way better.
