The start of the concert was delayed due to the felicitation function of Tanjore Ramadas. The concert started at 6.25 PM as against 6.00PM announced. It was a typical OST brand all T kritis concert. His open throated singing with long akara phrases always enthralls listeners. His voice was in great form while diving in the ocean of Begada and Kalyani. Such an elaborate alapana of Begada is very rare with many not oft heard sangathis. The entire alapana of 10 minutes was bliss. Each phrase was soaked in raga bhavam. The kriti- Nee pada pankaja is also not very familiar in the concert platform. It is always a pleasure to listen to the cascading sangathis in this kriti which OST rendered with razor sharp precision. Kalyani was also rendered with minute sagathis. The torrential swaras in Sreeranjini, Begada and Kalyani made the concert very lively. I would have been happy if he has rendered alapana of Durbar.
Nagai Sriram’s violin was soaked in honey. His alapanas and returns were much enjoyed by the discerning rasikas. Tanjore Ramadas embellished the concert with his deft strokes and anticipation.

Sorry Rajesh, I arrived when the function was getting over as I was in Ramana Balachandran's concert.

OST is peaking now. As I had mentioned elsewhere too, we should not miss any of his concerts, whenever possible. MHO
