why present day singers use manodharma?
When the composers Thygaraja, Muttuswamy Dikshitar, Annamayya, Ramdasu did not use manodharma as part of their lyrics, why artists use manodharma. Here is a lecdem on this topic. http://www.thehindu.com/chennai-margazh ... 735403.ece. Learned members may shed some light on this.

I fully agree with this! :Tadepally Lokanatha Sarma said that he disagreed with the concept of manodharma as being confined to alapana and niraval. Real manodharma lies in understanding a kriti, and communicating its bhavam to the listener.

I do not understand about composers not using manodharma in their creation. Is not a kriti a difficult exercise in manodharma compared to aalaapana and neraval? I read how both Poochi and Mysore came up with the same notation for one of their compositions and Poochi conceded that manodharma could coincide. (This I read as written by Mysore Vasudevacharyar). Is not Thyagaraja using different manodharma for different kritis for the same raga?
