Navneeth is blessed with a very good voice that has good strength and range and capable of translating his ideas into music. It was a very engaging concert from start to finish. Nearly three hours of absolute classical fare- without a minute of sag. The list itself resembles a KVN concert list. Navneeth has been honed by Padma Narayanaswamy which clearly reflects in his style of delivery. All aspects of KVN style appropriately presented. Earlier he had studied under Radha Viswanathan. The varnam is in a rare talam- Chatusra Ata popularised by KVN. All the alapanas were elaborate with time tested sancharams rendered with poise and finesse. The kritis were rendered in the authentic patantharam and swaras were elaborate with razor sharp accuracy. The kanakku in the swaras employed in Keeravani kriti did not mar the melody. There was variety in the talam, melam, composers and the language which is the hall mark of the Ariyakudi paddhathi. He has packed 18 kritis of varying duration giving full justice to all the aspects like elaboration, visranthi, neraval, swaras. The menu definitely looks like a grand kalyana sappadu which is the unique characteristic of this school.
Dr. Narmada with her infectious style was super in her raga essays and returns. Her raga alapana of Kalyani, and Keeravani specifically were spectacular. The Mridangam and Ghatam accompaniment were succinct. The accompanists played with good understanding and embellished the concert.
With more and more young vidwans following KVN bani, it is a blessing for the music circuit. Navneeth deserves more opportunities and hope that we may be able to hear him more in the coming season.

Very nice itinerary of songs and ragas. Well balanced concert. Beautifully written review too! Just one doubt - Isn't "Evarani" in Devaamrithavarshini raga?
