A beautifully crafted handbook , by the well known Critic , I wish to see one such book on our music published , before my time expires.
If something HAS to be written ON music , it HAS to be this way .

Sri R Satyanarayana had written a book on the same subject. "Music Criticism : Principles and Practice" , published by R K Srikantan Trust. Scholarly work and observations. Sri Satyanarayana himself is a Vainika, if I am not mistaken.

I am posting the copy my comment in The Hindu in response to this article, as given below:
'"The lost art of music criticism'? No, Sir. It is renaissance period. Study the art practiced in the past and in the present and realize that art of music criticism is enriched with many great contributions, free from the style adopted mainly from English literary criticism and personal bias, pride and prejudice in the past, with high levels of knowledge of both the theory and practice."

The article seems a bit contradictory. There is a resounding approbation of "Subbudu" and his faux pas and then ends with "a music critic has to be critical without wounding".
