Hi,
This is a very old Malayalam (rather Manipravalam as it has lots of Sanskrit phrases as well) song sung by the immortal P. Leela amma.
Any member who knows Malayalam as well as Sanskrit. Could you please decode the meaning? Sorry for asking the meaning here for a film song. But it is really beautiful and poetic and I have taken to singing it all the time. So would like to gather the meaning of the song.

What? You want this translated into Tamil? You got to be kidding, right?HarishankarK wrote:Hi,

SthithiulayathaLangaLothungi ninnuu (Ujjayini)
Rithu devathayaaay nrtham vecchu -- she danced like a celestial maiden
Muni kanyakayaay poojicchu -- performed puja like a rishi's daughter
Himagiri puthriyaay thapas irunnu -- as the daughter of the Himalaya mountain, she performed penances
Swayamvara panthalil orungi ninnu -- she stood in the shamiana (I am deliberately using this word instead of the word pandal to please all those readers who want to ape the apes-- er, the North Indians) erected for the swayamvaram.
Go right ahead, just split the words carefully and you will find it is actually in Tamil mixed with Samskrtam.
PS. Now, let me duck the bricks thrown my way by Maayalees!
