BLESSED GRANDFATHER

Post by S.NAGESWARAN »

Dear Rasikas,

I am a blessed grandfather with my grand children are also interested in music.

Sruthi and Harsha, my grand daughters [ of my first son Karthik living in Bangalore] are learning
vocal music from Mrs. Saranya, disciple of the legend musician late Smt Suguna Purushothaman.

Sruthi is studying 10 th standard and Harsha is studying 6th standard.

The drop box links of their of their video clippings are given below.

Very happy to know that your grandchildren are continuing are following the path of much-missed Smt Suguna Purushothaman by learning from one of her disciples.

I don't know if Shruthi is still working with msakella-ji, but to him goes the credit of the grounding and the confidence that we saw her display a year or two ago.

Hope you are all enjoying the Bangalore life!

Nageswaran Sir, You are truly blessed- for all your grandchildren have a taste for music. Enjoy life with your grand children.
Nick, you may be mistaking Shruthi for Sreenidhi (Nageswaran's daughter's daughter) who impressed all of us with her intense music some years back.

Pranaams Nageswaran Sir!
Trust Srinidhi continues to take lessons from msakella ji. I remember listening to her a few years ago at your residence (with ganeshkant after our Meet) That was a very good rendering.

Our brother-member Shri S.Nageshwaran is certainly a blessed grand-father as all his three grand-daughters are singing music well.

Many will not like my truthful views and vigorous training to the kids. However, in our system I initiate each and every kid sing all the Alankaras @ 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 8 notes per each beat and all the Varnas in full @ 4, 6 & 8 notes per beat. In our system I, without singing even 1% in any of the weekly-two-music-classes held by land-line-telephone, initiate the aspirants learn themselves 9 Varnas and one Swarajati only. By that time they themselves learn 5 or 6 Kritis also along with intricate mathematical Swarakalpana and brief Ragalapana on their own. Even while learning Kritis I mostly initiate the aspirants learn Kritis more in Chapu-tala that too with a gap of 3-units in the higher-degree as it is one of the toughest things to handle even for professionals. After one year they themselves will become able to do all the things on their own and proceed further and further. This is the minimum requirement in our system.

In the same manner, in 2010, as per the above link, even Chi.Shreenidhi also learnt from me for less than one year and sang the Todi-Adi-Varna in full @ 4, 6 & 8 notes per each beat and Evarura-Mohana-Chapu-Kriti with brief Ragalapana and intricate mathematical Swarakalpana along with others.

In the 1st link given above the grand-daughters at Bangalore sang Natakuranji-Adi-Varna @ 4 & 8 notes only and I am unable to open the 2nd link. If Shri Nageshwaran provides the correct link I am interested in listening to the 2nd part also. amsharma

I am thankful to Sri Sharmaji for providing the video link of the 2010 bench mark meeting of the Rasikas.org
where in my grand daughter Srinidhi was able to give one hour concert.

With in an effective six months of training, Sri Sharmaji was able to teach my grand daughter, the manodharma
raga alapana and many intricate swarakalpanas'.

Thank you Sri Sharmaji.
