I am writing after a long time .For the past few days we were busy with the sangeeth samrat etc in Doha(we have relocated recently from muscat,)..myself along with a group part of the carnatic choir had the opportunity to render the pancharatnam in Nattai and shri ragam .very happy to note that the youngsters in the group where so aware of the sahitya bhavam meaning and knew where to split the padams etc .on the other hand I happened to hear the rendition of "" endaro mahanubhavulu".by a famous duo sisters..the end charanam they stopped at the line Rama bhaktulaina Thyaga.........which I was very disappointed and surprised too.I think all the artists should do some amount of research regarding the sahityam and while leaving an avartanam of talam whether it really makes sense etc it is a great responsibility on their part to sing it in the right waysothat the gen next emulates the same.please don't get me wrong any body .being an ardent music lover and valuing the lyrical geniuses of our great vaggeyakaras I feel justice should be done while rendering the same.

You have pointed out that ‘a famous duo sisters’ gave a pause at the wrong place. If they sang as you pointed out usage of ‘bhaktulaina’ was also wrong. Most of Tamil carnatic musicians do not have knowledge of Telugu, Kannada and Sanskrit. Unlike other Indian languages Tamil does not have four letters each for the groups heading, ka, cha, ta, tha and pa. (ka vargam etc). Tamil Grantham or Pallava Grantham was created only for the purpose of writing Sanskrit, around 1300 years ago. A few letters from this, like, sa, sha, ha. Ja. Sri etc which were in use till 50 years ago have been thrown out by the linguistic fanatics. The result is that no pure (pachchai) Tamilian can correctly pronounce the words of any other Indian language.

Yes I agree. .what I pointed out was one of the many "'pauses"" .whether tamilian or what ever my humble request. Is please look into the sahityam meaning etc .it is the responsibility of the singer to put across to the audience and the gen next .
