A concert filled with verve, manodharmam, aesthetics as is their wont. Nice selection of songs. Kambodi alapana was rather brief. In Maragathavallim, they sang Harihridayaavaasini- It is usually sung as Hari hridayaavesini. Earlier once I heard somebody singing (I think TVG) Harahridayaavesini. Some experts may comment upon the correct sahithyam.
The Kalyani kriti is rare on the concert platform. First time heard such an elaborate and beautiful alapana of Narayani and the icing on the cake was the elaborate swara patterns. The raga swaroopam was evident at the start itself. The Subhapanthuvarali alapana, song, neraval at Sathimatalanalakinchi was simply superb. The tail enders added bhakthi quotient to the concert which is much appreciated by rasikas in their concerts.
The accompanists played with great sensitivity and embellished the concert significantly.

Re: PRIYA SISTERS AT BSU -7/11
They have an amazing repertoire of manodharma-ed ragams and a seemingly endless repertoire of kritis - which attribute they share with Sanjay and probably Sudha Raghunathan and Hyderabad-sisters, as far as carnatic musicians of modern times are concerned. Even amongst past vidwans and vidushis, I can only think of MLV and Radha-Jayalakshmi who presented incredible variety on stage. This is one significant reason I personally look forward to attending concerts of such artists. With most other artists, if you show one a song-list, one can pretty much guess who the artist is.
Further, the sisters almost always include a rare ragam that they elaborate on (such as Narayani in this concert). And every time they do it, they present it with full raga-bhavam in such a way that it tugs at your heart-strings and you permanently 'get' that rare ragam from then on. They are the only reason I have got the hang of ragams like Vijayanagari, Nasikabhushani (their alapana of it during the 2012 Rama Seva Mandali celebs. was exquisite!), Sivashakthi, Rishabapriya, Sunadavinodini, Jayamanohari, Kumudakriya, Gamanashramam, etc. There was an alapana of Amrithavarshini of theirs that was available on youtube (which has since disappeared). All-artists-to-date considered, personally, that was the best Amrithavarshini I have ever heard - period!
BTW, Haripriya's kalpana swarams are a reflection of sublime ingenuity - both in terms of the aesthetics and the complicated swara patterns. And when Shanmukhapriya hovers quite a bit around the thara-sthayi in neravals before transitioning into the next kalam, as she usually does if her voice cooperates, the magical effect this creates is ineffable!
