Wishing you all a happy Deepaavali. It is customary to announce the Rasikapriya award on this day every year.

On behalf of the global rasika community belonging to the discussion groups of sangeethapriya.org, the selection committee of annual Rasikapriya award has unanimously selected prolific uploader Sri Sreenivasa Murthy for Rasikapriya 2015 award. The award function will be during late Feb / early March, 2016 and will be conducted by Gaanapriya Foundation as before.

He has uploaded over 200 concerts , predominantly that of the legend Sri BMK. He has taken lot of pain in collecting tapes from various sources, digitised, cleaned up the recording and has presented a lucid synopsis of the concert along with every upload.

Sri Sreenivasa Murthy is a mechanical engineer who graduated from Bangalore and has been serving in aeronautical and automotive industry. His profession enabled him travel and live in different countries over the years and now he is back in Bangalore

His father was a Harikatha exponent and his elder brother a musician from whom he was influenced and introduced into Carnatic music from his childhood.

Listening to music with an objective of understanding of it's lyrics, musical content and the emotion it contains has been his passion. Listening to music exclusively on a daily basis has been an integral part of his life and experiencing the grace of 'rasAnubhavam' consistently over the period of time is his biggest inspiration for restoration and sharing of music.

His hobbies include travelling, learning languages, listening to music, and appreciation of art and literature.

On behalf of rasika community, I thank Sri Sreenivasa Murthy for his acceptance and we look forward to meeting him during the award function

I listened to saama veedha chanting of BMk. Though I do not understand the meaning this sounds very much similar to the chants of muslims. I have been wondering for quite some time whether the style is same in both the systems.
