The aroma of the fresh flowers at the Mada street, cool breeze and then finally the inimitable vidhwAn in TOP form at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. What an outstanding concert it turned out to be! TVS' concerts, esp the ones at BVB have always been fascinating ones, as Mylapore, i feel, somehow tends to bring the best out of him and this one got added to his innumerable unforgettable concerts @ BVB, i was lucky to be a part of. Nothing could have captured the spirit of Mylapore better than a TVS concert & this song list.
Each and every piece, masterfully rendered, with the voice again in peak form. Singing Arabhi early in the concert is a sureshot way to its success. Not that TVS needs it, but it set the wonderful tone for the rest to follow. The Muthiah Bhagavathar krithi in ShanmugapriyA was a masterclass, with the niraval and swara patters right from the TOP draw.
Though DKJ's version of kapAli replete with the magnificent sangathis of the DKP school remains the landmark to me, this was no less beautiful either, again decorated with beautiful pidis here and there and the swaras coming out flooding (Enjoyable & harmless flooding though) & the wonderful post main pieces to round off another memorable TVS concert. More of his concerts lined up later this week and i just couldn't wait for them.

Thanks @semmu86 for the prompt reviews of TVS concerts. I agree with your take on his music - simple, classical, unfettered flood of music. His sarvalaghu swaraprasthara is pure joy. Please keep them coming.

happy to hear about the concert... Need to attend more of his concerts and OST this season... We have few vidwan/vidushi's who can perform this way - uncomplicated music, no frills... will also look forward to vedavalli, rama ravi - not sure how many concerts they have..

Vedavalli seems to have cancelled all her engagements this season (or this month). Rama Ravi - she is slated on 27th @ Nada Inbam. Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath is singing before RR on the same day. Bound to be a double treat for yours truly.

I used to be a great fan of TVS but of late I lost interest as there is no new item.
Just repetition of what he has been singing for years
