Enchanting concert by Aishwarya S today (17-12-2015)

It was an enchanting evening (17th Dec 2015) concert by Aishwarya S (Great Grand Daughter of the Legend MS) at Sastri Hall, Luz, Chennai. An anticlimax to the start when the audio system (read microphones) fell flat, Aishwarya & Team took this easy without getting disturbed - Bravo & Kudos. The lack of microphone was in my view turned out to be a blessing in disguise...the audience was so attentive start to finish, listening to only Aishwarya, not giving space for any chit-chats.

I was impressed with this young talent when she handled the raagas and particularly kalpanaswaras with so much ease & creativity and good pace of high & low notes. I specifically liked the raagam-taanam-pallavi when Aishwarya seemed to be at her best today with easily transitioning from one raaga to another in the end. The final Meera Bhajan brought memories of the Legend MS.

I must also appreciate Anuthama Murali for her great support on violin.

Truly mesmerizing 2-hour evening Aishwarya...Keep it up...Best wishes.

Dear Chandar, many thanks for sharing your views... No surprise to many of us here... she can grow greater heights with time and perseverance.

I haven't heard an RTP from her yet ! She is very competent in Laya, would like to hear her singing in complicated talams, 4 kalai pallavi's etc.

The concert start was startling to say the least.As the mikes were being tested,
Aishwarya was very very uncomfortable with the mike quality and feedback. She
requested the audience with a smile whether she could sing without mikes. And the mikes were pushed away. We ended up with a mike-less concert which showcased the powerful voice of Aishwarya

Vanajakshi was sung in 2 speeds. Then came 2 songs in quick succession on Goddess Kamakshi. After a brisk Kanchadalyadakshi, Aishwarya sang an inspired Mayamalava-gowla. The virutham and the rendering of KsheerasagaraShayana was perfect in its adherence to the MSS patantharam. The neraval too was just outstanding. The confidence with which she sang crisp kalpanaswarams in Dhruva Talam was so pleasing.

IdathaPatham of Sivan was a perfect filler.

Todi was delineated in a very systematic manner. A soulful start in the lower reaches, establishing a firm grip in the middle octaves and then letting rip a cascade of finely crafted brigas in the higher reaches.

I was personally expecting KarthikeyaGangeya.
The RTP however was a brilliant effort and a pleasant surprise especially the tanam.

Smt Anuthama Murali was a pillar of support having perfect understanding with the main artist. Sri Sivakumar, Sri Sivaramakrishnan and BhaghyaLakshmi each in their own way embellished the memorable kutcheri .They played a very short tani due to lack of time.

what a lovely mayamalavagowla.... brilliant... so happy to hear an elaborate alapana in different plane.... couldn't get past the MMG alapana, I am stuck there itself... hope will get past other keerthanas, and reach todi RTP tomorrow...
