Concert was supposed to start at 4.30, but started an hour late, thanks to some award giving function before and to some never ending speeches. Added to all this, a new sound system was making its debut @ KGS and this concert had to become the 1st scapegoat for the same. With the start as it is delayed & thanks to the new sound system, the concert and the musicians kind of settled down only after the first 2/3 pieces, which was all the more frustrating.

But once it was done, the audio quality was much better than what it used to be at KGS usually. All the musicians were satisfied and they stuck form kind of immediately and the concert turned out to be a slightly curtailed classic. Mysore Nagaraj was as brilliant as ever as we hardly get to see him as an accompanist.

It was again a lesson from Prof. TS on accompaniment dharma. As a senior artiste there was absolutely no indulging in upmanship, always keeping in mind the accompanist's role and at the same time, stamping his authority. The accompaniment to all of them was of the highest class. The thani had some classic thisram and misram to start with, rounded with the cclassic khanda koraippu that he usually plays in rupaka chApu/ thisra Ekam thalas. Am sure he must have felt a semmangudi nostalgia when he heard "ChEtha shri bAlakrishNam". V.Suresh was as brilliant as ever.

My parents were at the concert and they mentioned that
#8 was: khelati brahmANDe bhagavan - SadAsiva brahmEndrA - sindhu bhairavi

and #9 was the shlokam: rama brahmAkya ... (tyAgaraja gurum vandE).
The brothers often conclude their concerts with this verse. Some say it is was composed by BMK. I am not entirely sure though.
