S.Aiswarya, Brahma Gana Sabha, 26 Dec

Post by pattamaa »

S Aiswarya
Dr Narmada
Akshay Anand
H Sivaramakrishnan

.....
Gopalaka paahimam, revagupthi
Ekkalathilum unnai, purvikalyani
Va muruga, begada
Artha piravi, shankarabharanam
Maithrrem bhajatha

Special mention about purvi kalyani Alapana and neraval in aryha piravi (thiruvembavai) part of MS Anna vast repertoire

She structured her Alapana very well, stage by stage. Of course shankarabharanam has MS Amma stamp, but aiswarya has added her originally and make raga more shining....Dr narmada at her best as always.. Young. Akshay played Supportingly.... Wish I hear Aiswarya singing longer duration....

She is going great guns, open throated singing and very powerful voice, and guided and mentored well by paati and Appa..... Long way to go, these are building steps, we know she will reach top soon... Happy for her and queens family...

Started with vanajAkshi, kalyAni ata tAla varnam

Phenomenal voice. Tackles and belts sangathis with such speed and elegance. Hope this MS repertoire/legacy takes a back seat and leaves bhajans behind to blossom on her own.

It was video recorded, family perhaps.

I HOPE you realise she is dedicating her concerts this season to the MEMORY OF IMMORTAL MS & is being requested by listeners to render the MS REPERTOIRE which is close to 3000!....She is the only legitimate contender to further propagate the M.S.Bhani etc....She will be doing so during the concert tour in Spring '16 of USA also starting with the special celebration at the CLEVELAND ARADHANA dedicated to the MEMORY& ACHEIVEMANTS OF M.S. Incidentally Maestro T.N.Krishnan has graciously agree to receive the ARIYAKUDI RAMANUJA IYENGAR AWARD & V.V.SUBRAMANIAN has kindly agreed to receive the M.S.SUBBULAKSHMI AWARD....Promises to be an exciting '16 musically & honouring the GREATEST..../VKV :D ;) :!:

cacm - my 2 cents. sure dedicate to MS's remembrance, sing one or two of her songs. not sure how many of the 3000 is available for public in recordings and if she even sang that many in her lifetime in public concerts. Maybe a fraction of them. So bring those that she hasn't sung or hasn't sung often/much. People/audience asking to skew to MS's popular numbers itself is a big disincentive to the talented youngster and could hinder her own ideas and evolution. Those people/audience should just buy MS's music and play them endlessly in a loop.

Also, hope Aiswarya discover's anew and sings manju nigar or payyadA or any other exquisite padams and sindhus that MS might have had in repertoire that seems to have gone away in her later career.

Dear S,
I am sure her grand son will in due course bring to the PUBLIC the MONUMENTAL repertoire of MS hopefully thru' his daughter AISHWARYA who is doing an admirable job..... I appreciate your well meant suggestions-what you have called "my two cents"- but dont you think every one has an opinion on these subjects? I feel if we can encourage talent we are much better off...... MY ONE AND A HALF CENTS. VKV

The Concert commenced with the Ata Thala Varnam rendered with supreme confidence.

Gopalaka Pahimam was wonderfully rendered and Vaa Muruga Vaa saw effortless sangathis and brigas from Aishwarya’s voice.

Poorvi Kalyani ragam alapanai was rendered flawlessly. The brigas were rendered with such speed and precision with great efforts on clarity and the feel of raga and brought pin drop silence among Rasikas to feel that moment of the RagaDevatha.

Surprising us with "Ekkalathilum", Aishwarya proved Her Range of Knowledge in the Paatandhara. This is a composition of Tiruvarur Ramaswamy Pillai.

The Shankarabaranam is again one of the Assets of Her Guru Parampara, but this Time she proved that she owned the Raga. One could feel how she Enjoyed the Raaga phrasings and bringing mind boggling sangathis as though it was just child’s play.. Bringing the flavor of MS Amma combined with her own innovation without diluting the originality is a Great Effort.
The amazing hard work that has gone in her music, we the rasikas are now seeing this unfold on the stage. A Huge Salute for discipline and sadhakam.

One should also note her perfect pronunciation of each and every words understanding its depth meaning according to the Composition and presenting it with full Bhakthi.

Smt Narmada, sang with Her Violin. For one moment I stopped to see if it was a Violin or a Vocal Accompaniment. Akshay, an upcoming Talented Artist was of Great Support for the Day. His Wisdom on the Instrument, went along with the Singer with no hinderance in the flow. Sri Sivaramakrishnan played very well too along with Akshay for a short Taniavartanam.

A Review of a rasika from the Stage.

Dear Vignesh Viswanathan, CONGRATS for bringing credit to the Viswanathan name (compensating viswanathans like me actively bringing it down!) & hope to meet you soon....Very happy to read your reviews with proper expertise. It is exciting to attend a concert where EXPERTISE, EXPERIENCE , KNOWLEDGE& ABILITY OF DR.M.Narmadha SUPPLEMENTS the enormous abilities, musical inheritance , hard work and discipline of AISHWARYA as well as talents of the promising Akshay to make the whole experience DIVINE.....I am PARTICULARLY excited you made reference to the HALLMARK & EXPERTISE OF MS AMMA: "One should also note her perfect pronunciation of each and every words understanding its depth meaning according to the Composition and presenting it with full Bhakthi." and that she appears to have inherited with the teaching of none other than the great SMT.RADHA VISWANATHAN as her teacher......Regs, VKV :D :) :!: 8-) ;)

This was my first concert of this year -- the Poorvikalyani was outstanding. But she really found another gear in that Shankarabharanam. Aishwariya's voice has the range and an effortless reach in the upper octave. I was happy to see a Thiruvempavai as the main item for a change.

The one main complaint I had though was the audio system... the volume was just way too high for such a small hall. I had taken a dB reading on my phone and it was averaging 75 decibels, frequently crossing 80 and actually hit the 85 dB mark as a peak measurement -- that's uncalibrated, but still... And I was sitting in one of the middle rows, so I can't imagine how it was up at the front.

The other complaint -- I felt was that the allotted time of just 90 min was way too small.

It was wonderful to meet @cienu and the family backstage. I convey my best wishes for a long and fulfilling career for Aishwariya. And also for the budding mridangist, Akshay.

Another upcoming artist, Vani Ramamurthy incidentally had a concert at NGS around the same time. Her voice was really sonorous, and she touched listeners' hearts with Saveri, Muruga Muruga, which recd an outstanding applause !
