Holding splendid bow and arrows in your hand, destroyer of the the ten-headed enemy of the Gods

*is this a reference to the kabandha episode in the rAmAyaNa?
(dhanu/kArmuka - Sagittarius was cursed by a hermit to be a monster named kabandha because he used to frighten the rishis of the forest by assuming monstrous forms. The hermit said he would go back to his original form when Rama cuts off his hands and he dies)

**parAnganA - it seems to mean pArvati but I am not sure how

What is the story behind purahara darpa haraNa?

"purahara-kArmuka-darpa-hara"

If we take the first 2 words together - it would mean the bow of Shiva . So the whole thing can be translated as "one who destroyed the pride of the bow of Shiva"

darpa means pride. We could interpret is as stiffness/strength etc. since the bow having pride may not make sense. Any comments?

Shiva's bow is poetically treated as having the pride of being almost "unstringable", "unbreakable", 'unbendable." Witness the same sentiment of calling the bow to be sentient in the third line of jAnAti rAma...Sloka often sung in concerts:
jAnAti dOrbalaparAkramaM ISa-cApaH = Shiva's bow knows the might of your powerful arm.

Oh! It's not a reference to Siva's pride being destroyed, but a reference to Sivadhanurbhanjana! Thank you.

@rshankar, I vaguely remembered reading a story which I just looked up:

As per the Shiva Purana, once Brahma (the Hindu God of creation) and Vishnu (the Hindu God of preservation) had an argument in terms of supremacy of creation.[1] To test them, Shiva pierced the three worlds as a huge endless pillar of light, the jyotirlinga. Vishnu and Brahma split their ways to downwards and upwards respectively to find the end of the light in either directions. Brahma lied that he found out the end, while Vishnu conceded his defeat. Shiva appeared as a second pillar of light and cursed Brahma that he would have no place in ceremonies while Vishnu would be worshipped till the end of eternity.

I confused Brahma with Shiva in my recollection - my apologies, although it's still a stretch!
