Perambur sangeetha sabha - Thyagaraja Aradhana - 2016

PSS conducted Sathguru Thyagaraja Swami Aradhana on 30 01 2016 @ 18 45 hrs. at Sankaralayam , Perambur.
Around 40 boys and girls participated in the homage function
shri Hyderabad Siva lead the group
Amirdhavarshini vocal
Villivakkam Raghuraman violin
Manikudi chandrasekar Mirudangam
K.Ranganathan Ghatam
KR Sivaramakrishnan Kanjira

The programme started at 19 00 hrs
Sri Ganapathi Sourashtram
Guruleka Eduvanti Gowri Manohari followed by
Pancha Rathna kritis.

The Aradhana was well organized and all sang to the sruti. To my surprise not even a single referred the note book during rendering the Pancharatna. There were occasional slippings of Thalam but nicely managed by the accompanying artistes. The hall was full and so the dais. Secretary in his speech paid tributes to the late Nadopasana Srinivasan for his active participation as executive member several years back. He mentioned that in the forthcoming Chithrai Viaha leading artistes will perform. As usual prasadam was distributed to all at the end. Perhaps this is the first Aradhana of St Thyagaraja in North Madras this year. Kudos to the organizers.

I remember attending programmes of PSS from mid 60s to early 70s. May be the venue was RBCC high school. Not sure.

Firstly, let me thank you for your kind words about my post on PSS Thyagaraja Aradhana. I have a request for you as a North Chennai Rasika. This being MSS Centenary year, it will be great if PSS can host concerts honoring this great artist starting with her great-grand daughter Aishwarya Srinivasan.
