First day of the spring festival saw a grand 3.5 hours of block buster. Complete justice to each raga taken up for alapane. Today being purandara dAsa punya dina, there was an abundant justice to the composer as well.

Besides the sweetness content (of Jayashri and Embar's music) the percussion team made the concert shine (though a tad loud in places).

A solid RTP, though the chosen ragA was not anywhere near a CM rAgA. From then on, the concert took a HM turn, and was appreciated nonetheless by those gathered. Is there any other CM artiste who draws this many HM rasikas?

Didn't expect a mega concert.

I haven't heard her in a while, and was impressed with her usual grace and serenity in singing.

Bombay Jayashree performed for the first time after her self imposed exile during Margazhi. I believe this break has done good on her. The voice held perfect and traversing through the range of octaves was impeccable.

I completely agree with you that PSK and GG were in a different plateau all together yesterday. The spirited tani was also the hallmark of the evening.

SumanEsaranjani is either equivalent or pretty close.

Ganeshkant,
I see it this way: every decade or so, a HM rAgA or so lose their 'from over there status', and gain entry into CM. We even forget that they were strangers and in due course they become part of CM, gain acceptance (kApi, dES, behAg and so on). SumanESa ranjani is getting more familiar, but has not yet arrived.

Madhukauns is still a bit exotic whereas malkauns is no stranger...
