Today I heard an excellent instrumental concert of Lalitha and Nandini at Kalarasana. The sisters were absolutely phenomenal. They played the Varnam in 4 speeds which I have heard only them and their uncles play.

Here is their song list,

Ento prema Varnam - Suruti - Adi (R)
Gajavadana - Hamsadwani - Adi- Purandaradasa (R, S)
Marugelara - Jayanthasri - Adi - Tyagaraja
Sugunamule - Chakravagam - Rupakam - Tyagaraja (R, S)
Arul seiya Vendum Ayya - Rasikapriya - Adi - Kotiswara Iyer (R)
Niravati suka - Ravichandrika - Adi - Tyagaraja
Kapali - Mohanam- Adi - Papanasam Sivam (R, S)
This they rendered due to a request from a rasika.
Ragam Tanam Pallavi - Gowrimanohari - Kanda Jati Triputa Talam
Ragamalika in Kamalamanohari, Jayamanohari and Ramamanohari.
Surdas Bhajan - Maduvanti - Eka tal
Kavadi Chindhu

Tha RTP was classy with good tanam and niravel. The choice of `Manohari ragas' was enjoyable.

Very good artistes!

Lalitha-Nandini are excellent. When I heard them in London couple of months ago I was impressed by the sowkhyam in their playing. They are able to combine vidwat with melody so effortlessly. The L.Sub/L.Shankar pedigree shows, esp in the bowing style.

I would highly recommend rasikas here to attend their concerts during the season.

The accompanists were Sridaran Sankaran (Australia) - Mridangam
Chandrasekara sarma (Ghatam)
Bharatan (London)- Ganjira

Sridaran did a very good job and the Tani was engaging.
