It was a very good concert by Sri. Shashikiran, Sri. Chitravina Ganesh, and team. Sri. Ganesh played the Chitravina for the first 45 minutes. He started with a brief but melodious Ganamurthe in Raga Ganamurthi with Kalpana Swarams, then played Varamulosagi in Raga Keervani with exciting Kalpana Swaras and a short Raga alapana, and concluded his segment with the evergreen Tamil song Chinnanchiru kiLiye kaNNamma.
They then sang together for the remaining 1:30 hours.
They started with Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna's "Siddhim daehi" with interesting kalpana swarams, then they sang "Ekambraesha nayike" with kalpana swarams. Then came the fantastic Kamakshi swarajati where one of them sang the swarams and the other sang the sahityas simultaneously which was awesome.Their RTP in Raga Dharmavati was spellbinding. This was rendered in mulitiple speeds in the pattern 4,3,2,1 which was a lot of fun.The kalpana swarams they rendered for this was enjoyable.
A couple of mellifluous bhajans followed - "Mooruti enu niliso", a Hindi Bhajan "Daya karo Bhagavan" followed by "Narahari vesha". They sang a Tillana and concluded the concert with the Mangalam.
The violin rendition by Sri.Rhagavendra Rao was exceptional especially in the raga Keeravani and the RTP.
The tani avartanam by Dr.Ram Sriram and Sri. Guruprasad was very lively and entertaining.
Sri.Shashikiran briefly explained about each raga and each song as there were a few Hindustani music rasikas and foreigners who thoroughly enjoyed the concert.
