The concert was full of exuberance from this young team. L Ramakrishnan was melodic rigt from the start, his returns especially kalyani alapana was splendid.
'Thunderous thani' (too loud) Krishna is talent to watch (3rd concert of his in last one month for me). Bharath was effortless in higher octaves and kalpana swaras.
Both alapanas were very good.

But, it was an off day for me. I was not connected to this concert for some reason. There was something missing. I did slowly walked back home once the tani got over and the vote of thanks started. I generally attend any concert in full. Going by the list where it had Thodi & Kalayani generally I should be more happy. I had attended many good concerts of Bharath in Madras. There was no madhyama, vilamba kAlam here. He sung in only one speed , jet speed. The express kalpana swaras beyond a point didnt help.
This is purely my view.

PS : Unexpected visit to home given opportunity to attend few concerts this season. Now I should look forward for some concerts at Cochin, Coimbatore for days to come.

I completely get what you are saying arvenky. The sowkhyam factor is never there in his music. He likes to impress with speed. It is a very laya oriented music and has never impressed me. The other aspect is that if you take 100 concerts of his, 45 concerts may have a kalyani main. He needs to reinvent himself. High time he does that. After a point you realize, what next ? another kalyani main or a thodi with jet speed swaras to garner audience applause ? I feel the same about Trichur Brothers. In my opinion, both have the same concert delivery concept. Just sing kalpana swaras with a 1000 avarthanas of meaningless swara patterns that do not at all bring out the beauty of the raga, add to it the jet speed. Perfect recipe for audience applause but aesthetics factor = zero, raga bhava = zero. Also, how many times will you sing the same kalyani and thodi, there are so many rakthi ragas to explore, why not take them to explore.

That said, his laya prowess is commendable. His stage confidence is great! But never my cup of tea. I am happy with the RKMs and Amrutha Venkateshs

I feel the same about Trichur Brothers. In my opinion, both have the same concert delivery concept.

Bharat Sundar is much far better than Trichur Bros. Their music is very superficial and all about charisma. BS has vidvath but as you pointed out needs to slow down a bit and bring in the sowkhyam element.

No comparison between Trichur Bros and Bharat! Far more talented and got has got manodharmam and the courage to experiment. Agree the point of repetition of ragas. Hope he would note this point..
