such a satisfying concert, sowkyam everywhere... it's hall full in raga sudha, a rare sight, as jaya mami holds only pure "madi" kutcheri, which chennai/mylapore mama/mami's don't link unfortunately. all items were pristine and blemishless. Pantuvarali is not my cup of tea as often beaten to death, but when someone like KVN mama sings, i am glued, no exception in this case.. the swaras were electric with nice combinations. yadukulakambodhi keerthana is new one to me... madhyamavati was real treat to ears... great "bug"less support from BUG and awsome percussion by JV and Kaarthik... Loved everybit of thani, and had to leave after the thani...

It's irritating to see mama, mami's leave during thani avarthanam even at 750pm... got to do something, i was feeling like standing up and showing don't leave...

Someone finally did sing tyAgarAjam bhajarE, a kriti I've been wanting to hear in a performance for ages! A favorite, in a favorite rAgA How I wish I had been there in Raga Sudha Hall!

Of late I have seen less folks leave during Tani than say 20 years back (In Blr). I remember during my younger days - KVN used to get visibly angry so much so, that before the main piece he once asked folks who intend to leave during Tani to leave then itself. What a great man!

Very good concert. I would say the #2 item was a little bit saggy, though it could be because of me not liking mOhanam itself much.
At mElsthAyis there is a karakarapu (hoarseness?) in his voice. Hope he takes care of that.

madyamAvathi - seems this is the first time, or after very loooooong time - I get to hear this song in a live concert. Been thinking of the last time I heard this one and I recall only Ramnad Krishnan's CD

Thanks for your review pattamma. Good to know that RKM has sung Palimsu Kamakshi as main. Hope he did neraval at Kanthamagu I am longing since long to hear one concert with Palimsu Kamakshi as main. I have never heard Thyagarajam bhjare in any concert so far.

Just now remembered this - between the ususally sung 2nd (dhA ni ni dha dhA) and 3rd (sA ri ga sa ri gA) chittaiswarams for bhairvai, he sang one additional chittaiswaram (starting ni dha dha).

I have heard that one more chittaswaram is there, but people are not singing that. Vedavalli mami has told about an anubandham to this varnam also.

what he sang is not anubhandam, that will return back to pallavi instead of charanam.. he sang additional chittaswaras ...
