Dear Badari,
Thanks for nice review. But some people walked to give chits even while they had not finished second song in Devagandari.I could see some irritable face at least on one of them. While it is good they honored your requests (u might have given in advance),it is better to leave the stage for the artists rather than force them to sing.

Sir,

These requests were placed well in advance and disnt disturb their concert planning for the day. Since I had a confirmation from them , that it would be accommodated in Seshadripuram., took all efforts to be there to witness the magic unfold.

Thanks to social media which helps you be connected.

Sir ... No one can force them to sing something that they do not want to sing. However, with Malladi brothers, I have actually had them thank us (Badari and I have usually been together) for the requests, and it was not a formality or worse, a put on! They have usually said something along the lines of "these items are gems; but no one asks for these anymore as these are out of fashion now; even we had forgotten that we know these; thank you for providing us an opportunity to revisit these!"

So, I think it's important that we let the artistes know that not just do we like what they present on their own, but also that we also think deeply about their music and are involved in it actively!

Dear Badari,KSJ

Put it in good perspective.I mean the chits coming between generally disturbs the flow.Adavance info and planning is different. It goes with the flow.

Dear Sir,

I don't belong to the category of rasikas who take a break during concerts to either hand over a chit / a coffee break / nature's call / At last but not the least - exodus at tani (all my concert lists have indicated the last song performed that evening). As mentioned earlier, social media connects people across the globe. We attended the concert as they had confirmed one of the requested items in the list of today's concert.

I did witness audience passing on chits inspite of Vid Ram Prasad's request to hand over after the violin alapana is done. IMHO, Audience need to learn how to connect with artists

Thanks for corrections. Mobile posting has its own challenges (including unintended auto corrects!!)

Updated my post too.

Ravi,
How I wish you were in India attending concerts, requesting more gems!

Badari,
Your covering so many concerts is really amazing, and you know how rasikAs everywhere look forward to reviews from every corner of the globe--and song lists! You and Jaishankar do the right thing in requesting in advance by E-mail your favorites, and it's nice of the artistes to oblige, of fcourse.

I also agree with Bhagwan in that requests by chit during the concert is distracting both for the artistes and to the audience. TukkaDa time, I don't mind all that much.

Also, what are requested concerns me. An often overly heard song (a very popular one, no doubt) is requested mostly--something both the artiste and most rasikAs have sung and listened to ad infinitum.

Lucky you Badari, In the other post (where I am hauled over coals for liking them) - I did mention about Voleti. I have a commercial recording of Voleti's Kshitija Ramanam - what a rendition!! Would love to hear the brothers sing. Must have been a double delight for you.
