Friends,
Decided to register myself formally in this august gathering of musical aficionados from all around the world.
Myself, Mr. Murari, a Chartered Account by profession living in Chennai but was visiting my daughter in Bengaluru on the birth of my little grand son.
Anyway, happened to listen to this concert near my daughter's house in a beautiful sprawling open air pandal in RR Nagar on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami.

Violin by HN Bhaskaran
Mridangam by HS Sudheendran
Tambura by (?)

a very traditional and soulful concert.
the kapi main piece was indeed brimming with soukiyam.
ravikiran has a soothing and yet open voice and sings in a nuanced polished way i felt.
loved every minute of the 2.5 hour concert.
i am not a learned man musically - pls pardon me for errors of any nature above.
pranams to all.
murari.

Murari sir,
Welcome to a fellowship of people very much like you.
Your report is "on the money" for rasikas like me. GRK is popular here.
RR Nagar is Rajarajeshwari Nagar, right? And why do you wish to name yourself as such?

NIce Kapi. I walked in when he was about to start Kapi. Full of soukyam. Could reduce the hand gestures. Both hands were up above for most of the time. Kasturirangan sang at the same venue. From my memory, he sang MMG, sujana jeevana, shanmukhapriya with ragam and main mohana. It was below par. I had high expectations. I walked out mid way thru mohanam. Violin was very bad to say the least.
Pallavi Prasanna at the same venue started with Sarasuda, thodi neenedhoddavano, abheri ragam followed by Bhajare re manasa, ramanukku mannan mudi hindolam krithi, shubapantuvarali ragam followed by Ennalu urake with Neraval & Swaram. A RTP in charukesi Adi 2 kalai, she closed with a Behag+ Basant song and one more piece. She sang well. When ever she starts a alap it sounds like she is missing something, after a good few seconds she settles well. violin was bad here as well. Jayateerth Mevundi sang Ram Kalyan at Vani HIgh - conceived by Ustad Amir Khan as told by him. It was very good, sedate, peaceful. Bhageshree followed. Then came Shankara which had nice swaras. Then came Keeravani (Mishra) thumri followed by a vachana. He closed with Bhairavi. Concert was for 2 hours only. Concert started late. Speech at start, as well as at the end. In other news, attended a wedding this morning, nadaswarakaarar made minced meat of Hindolam.

The violin at this concert though was exceptional!!! Vocalist and violinist seemed to be in perfect sync.
Mridangam was good too but i felt sometimes he went off on his own tangent leaving the other two artists helpless
Murari.
