My first concert this season was that of Sikkil Gurucharan, he came highly recommended by people in the know. The youthful trio impressed the mostly mature rasikas who made the concert, no small feat. Amazing voice, good adherence to shruthi, precise control over kaalapramaanam. Mayamalavagowlai, Kumudakriya and Thodi stood out. Nagai Sriram & Trivandrum Balaji - we will hear more of them in the future.

What a nice tribute to his grandmother(s) by starting the concert with a varNam of their composition! I just love the timbre of his voice. I may be blaspheming here, but I like the tirupaLLiazhaicchi he has recorded to the previous one by Smt. MLV!
