'Sarasijanaabha' in m m goula must be the Aadi taala Varnam (which was a favourite of KVN)

Shambho Satatam: I have listened to Semmangudi singing this kriti in Karnaataka Kaapi at the Navaratri mandapam. Varamu seems to be a new discovery. Which is the original?

Slokam : should be from 'Syaanadoora pura varnanaa prabandham'.

Krishna chandra: The popular version is in Tilang.

Pannagendrasayana is a great kriti suitable for dance too

'Maatangatanayaayai is sung by the Mullamoodu bhagavatars and is a fine illustration of how pantuvarali could be a mangalam piece.

Hope the concert - a grand tribute to ST- has been recorded.

What was the problem with Karnataka kapi which prompted TVG to retune to Varamu.

I do not know the answer to this question. But music is something that is accessible to all. Many of Swathi krithis were tuned again as the original was not known. If change is the only thing that is eternal, I do not think there should be any problem in retuning. What you choose to listen is your choice though !!!

Varamu however does not appear to be a good choice.
Listen to Semmangudi's k.kaapi- you'll realise.
