Navneet, a disciple of Padma Narayanaswamy presented a chaste Carnatic recital under the aegis of YUVASANGEET- APT Parampara Series organised by Arkay Convention Centre. He was accompanied by Sandeep Ramachandran on the Violin and Venkatasubramanian on the Mridangam. List of songs.
Varnam- Kanada-Ata talam
Tulasidala-Mayamalavagowla-T (N,S)
Sadguru swamiki-Reetigowla-RSI
Tyagarajaya Namaste- Begada- MD (O)
Dattathreya Trimurthy rupa-Ranjini- Ganapati Sachidananda Swami (R,N,S)
Anupamagunambudhi-Athana-T
Palimsu Kamakshi-Madhyamavathy-SS (R,N,S)
Tani
Om Namasivaya- Hindolam -Swarnavenkatesa Deekshitar (R)
Smarajanaka subha charita-Behag -ST (R)
Anri ivvulakam-Sindubhairavi-Thiruppavai (R)
Tillana-Poorvi
Vanga kadal kadaintha-Suruti- Tiruppavai.
Navneet is a torch bearer of the KVN school. The above list itself will easily tally for a KVN concert. Before coming under the spell of KVN bani, Navneet trained under Radha Viswanathan and Mumbai Vamanan Sir. All the songs were rendered in the strict KVN kalapramanam retaining absolute fidelity to the padantaram of KVN. The elaborate alapanas of Ranjini and Madhyamavathy were pointers to the manodharmam and sadhakam Navneet has put in over the years. He has got a voice that is well sruti aligned which is the hallmark of his school and his rigorous raining under Padma Narayanawamy has kept him in good stead in all the related areas like raga alapana, neraval, kanakku, sense of proportion and cutchery padhathi. The song selection was also good covering the variety of composers, talas and tempo. I am happy at the choice of Dattathreya and Om Namasivaya for these songs are seldom heard in the concert platform after the KVN era. (Gayathri Girish recently sang Om Namasivaya in her thematic concert)
The alapanas of Ranjini, Madhyamavathy and the other smaller alapanas revealed the raga swaroopam most beautifully without any ambiguity with the time tested sangatis and measured gamakams and karvais. For the Ranjini song, the neraval at Sahyadrivasa Sachidandanda Sree Gurudutta swaroopa was meditative at the same time revealing the myriad hues of the ragam and the following swara patterns were also intelligently crafted. For the song Palimsu Kamakshi customary neraval at Kanthamagu and the cascading swarams that followed with interesting koraippu was greatly appreciated by the discerning audience.
Sandeep Ramachandran, a disciple of RK Sreeramkumar played with lot of shruthi suddham during returns and enhanced the concert impact. His mellinam vallinam was admirable. Venkatasubramaniam is a disciple of Srimushnam Raja rao. He played with good anticipation. He did not caress nor banged the Mridangam. The volume was kept at the right level. Both the accompanists embellished the concert to a good extent. A very good concert for two hours. We should get more opportunities to hear the music of Navneet.

Re: NAVNEET KRISHNAN-ARKAY CONVENTION-6/6/16
The webcast got through only half an hour later when Navneet was into the charanam of the Begada kriti.
The singer-personally known to me-is such a steadfast follower of the KVN School that the selection of kritis, choice of Neraval passage and the overall layout of the swaraprastara are all strictly as per the KVN paddhati. He has got a huge collection of KVN's recordings and presents the periodic 'KVN radio' concerts in the network.
Anupama gunambudhi had the verve of the ARI rendering and the Madhyamavati main included non mathematical but precise swara kuraippu typical of KVN with just a simple link at the end. Navneet was wise enough not to venture into impossible sthaayis or prayogas that may go against his 'range'. The violinist and mridangist supported the singer well.
The young team did give a good performance.

It was a concert to remember by Navaneet at Arkay Convention on 6th June 2016.
He has internalised the essence of the KVN style which Padma Mami has imparted to him so wonderfully.
The chittaswarams in Ranjani were fantastic. Apparently the entire song has been set to music by Sri KVN himself.
The Neravals need special mention including the splitting of the sahithyam in the 2nd Kalam. Navaneet accomplished this brilliantly.
Sandeep and Venkatasubramaniam played extremely well and so did Balaji on the Tambura.
I was happy to meet CRama,Pattamaa & Sri TVG from rasikas and many more friends.
I hope the rasikas get to hear a lot more of Navaneet this December season.

I'm glad i attended...
though he didn't sing any sampoorna ragas, his music is sampoornam... this should summarize the concert and music well.

Apparently in the version of the concert available earlier on YouTube, the first 30 minutes were missing. The concert seems to have been re-uploaded, with the entire song list now. This is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMPKR_5qotg

You can hear it from the master himself [KVN], here. About one hour in to the concert.HarishankarK wrote:Is this is a new composition. Never heard about this one before. When I saw the composer name I was much relieved
