a. A very satisfactory concert by Amritha.
b. Probably this is the 5th live concert of hers that I am listening
c. She normally has a very low pitch in which she sings perfect music. I felt that she has increased her sruti a little bit this time and sounded very forceful
d. Also, compared to the general slow tempo used by her, she had huge variations in speed during this concert. Also very brisk and impressive swaraprastharas. All positive and desired improvements.
e. Ranjani fine arts is celebrating Thyagraja's 250 birth anniversary the whole of this year. So the entire concert is Thy centric with a few exceptions.
f. Listening to Hindolam after a long time in a concert. MD's number was slow and soothing. It was followed by the fast paced sarasasaamadaana, which is good thinking.
g. Bhairavi Raksha Bettare is rarely heard. I think it was sung by DKP/DKJ. Very nice presentation. I love anything in Bhairavi. It is heavy but beauty soaked.
h. Couple of good kannada songs to end with was very welcome.
I. Young BK Raghu gave good accompaniment on violin. BC Manjunath also provided good following and a spirited thani. No upa pakkavaadhyam. I normally feel it is better to have one. But some artists/rasikas feel otherwise. A ghatam or kanjira will break the monotony of mridangam for an entire concert and also give good tonal variation
j. Seems Amritha is singing at SRLKM also sometime later this year, from the list announced there.
k. Amritha is slowly but surely finding a niche for herself, not competing with the high pitched cacophony of some popular artists. Our best wishes for her continued success.
