g_g,
How I wish I were in benda kALUru
I like the hall, like the proximity. Here's a lovely place in busy Bengaluru which seems to give you the feeling that it's far from the madding crowd. Nice sized hall, no blaring mics (unless it happens to be a fusion blast).
Hope you and many other rasikAs are in attendance. Of course, we are anticipating a list and review...

I expect a detailed posting by g_g
GJRK and LV gave a very delectable, melodious violin duet recital at Augusta Hall,Brigade Millenium to overflowing Rasikas. One hall mark of Lalgudi tradition is the sense of time. The Duo were on stage 30 mins earlier tuning and adjusting their violin to the sound system. There was no dull moment in the near three hours recital.
Starting with Lalgudi Sir's Varnam in Sama(LGJ),followed by Kanna Tandri Napai (T) in Devamanohari,Shree Mathrubhootam in Kannada(D),
Narayana Ninna namada Smarane Smaraneya in Shudda Dhanyasi(PD),Aparama Bhakti ento(T) in Pantuvarali,Enati Nomu Phalamuin Bhairavi(T)
followed by RTP in Bindu Malini,Jagaddodharana(PD),karpagame in Madhyamavati, one Bharatiyar song Mohana Kalyani Thillana(LGJ) and Mangalam.
I hope G-G will post detailed review.
Excellent accompaniment by Sri Praveen and Guruprasad on Mridangam and Khanjira respectively.

IIRC Lalgudi Sibilings played the bindumalini RTP as a tribute to mandolin srinivas. This must be a treasure - their enta muddO enta sogusO melts our hearts . Assuming there was also ragamaliga . Awaiting G_G to put the list of ragas.hnbhagavan wrote:I expect a detailed posting by g_g
followed by RTP in Bindu Malini,

Dear Sri Rajesh,
It was Bindumalini and the pallavi line reads:
Sagarikripakari nada Bindumalini- perhaps you can make out now.

The pallavi and the swara ragamalika was a combination of intellectual and emotional treat. The starting Sagari was swarakshara. They chose raga alike ragas that allow the usage of Sa Ga Ri. The ragas were Nalinakanthi, Riti Gaula, Rasikapriya and Hamsadwani.
The krithis Appa Rama Bhakti was started as 'Ma Appa Rama Bakthi'. The typical rendition even by vocalists go as Appa Rama Bakthi entho goppa Rama. It was heartening to see the right interpretation by starting as Ma Appa Rama bakthi with the Ma as
Swarakashara.
In the krithi Sri Mathrubotham, they chose the place 'Suvasitha nava javanthi pushpa ' , which starts on the last akshara of the Thala or starting one akshara before the sama. It gave scope for interesting lays patterns.

Is it not normally written as Apa Rama Bakthi.SriKrishnan wrote:The krithis Appa Rama Bhakti was started as 'Ma Appa Rama Bakthi'.
Ma Appa (Jaya)Rama Bakthi may be coincidental- but appropriate from the children of the legend.
