Lalitha Santhanam daughter of Sriman AGS welcomed the chief guests with their biodata in detail.
Sons of AGS M/s Ganesan,,and Ramarathinam and daughter Lakshmi Sundaram offered ponnadai to UKS and MC and Sujatha Vijaya Raghavan respectively.. Momentos were presented by AGS's sons in law M/s Santhanam and Rajagopal and by daughter Annapoorni Radhakrishnan

His first concert with AGS was in the year 1952 at Perambur Sangeetha Sabha on recommendation by Karaikudi Sambasiva Iyer who introduced him to all leading Vidwans . LGJ.accompanied him on violin
He was a very lucky man [ Kairasi ] and he has blessing till now and played for more than 1000 concerts. In MA he played for Sathur in the Silver jubiee year. He was given Thani after Ramanee in Kalyani in a vivaharamana thalam.
AGS was very fond of perfume and special interest on Athar [ Sandal wood ] With out age difference he used to move freely with everybody. He was very proficient in Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi, Kannadam and Tamil. His RTP in Ragamalika ' Sankarabarananai Azhaithodi was very famous and he used to sing for 90 mts. He was a very religious person and his legacy is maintained by all his family members perfectly.
He appealed to his family to bring out his biography with the assistance of Sujatha Vijayaraghavan and with a foreword by Dr Vedavalli in a book form for sake of future generation.

No episodes left for him to share since UKS has totally exhausted all.
In 1952 he accompanied him at Thyagaraja Utsavam and in 1953 at Shunmukananda Sabha Bombay.
He was so humble and simple even during train journey he used to come from his Upper class to enquire about the welfare of the accompanying Artistes. This he experienced during travel with Mylattoor Ramachjandran to Hyderabad for a concert at South India Culturals.

Sujatha Vijayaraghavan

Her mother Vidushi Anantha lakshmi Sadagopan was a prime disciple of AGS and she has association of AGS from her childhood.. AGS used to teach her mother 3 to 4 days a week with min 4 hrs a day and kids can listen the music taught with out disturbing the tutorial. He used to meticulously follow and will not allow even a single mistake in repeating the lesson,.
Every kriti has a definite kalapramanam and should be followed strictly. The beginning kalam should continue till the end of the kriti.. He was very firm in this.
Clarity in the lyrics will be there in his singing.
Indha soukiyama, Theliyalethu Rama , sakkani raja were all rendered by him perfectly.
AGS was having a majestic look and so his music too.

My observation

The hall was full from 17 25 hrs with many Rasikas standing outside..
The whole function meticulously planned and executed. The concert was excellent with good menu. This time youngsters were in equal numbers with Senior citizens. Sweet packets were distributed at the end .
AGS family members' devotion one could notice in every stage of the function.

Thank you Thanjavooran for your being there and writing about this wonderful tribute to a carnatic great.

I remember going to Sattur's house in Tiruchy once with my aunt AS when I was a teenager. It was a feast day (forget what), and yes, a very traditional meal on nuni vAzhai ilai (all of a banana leaf--traditional, again) was served!

AS's regard for her guru was so well expressed in her music and in her respect for him.

An Excellent concert for 120 mts. Passages in violin were all pleasing in every song. In total quite enjoyable throughout. Manmoj closely followed the vocalist and Thani was good. Vijay Siva appealed to stop the video coverage after the first song. In general both programmes were quite enjoyable. Today also the hall was full with Rasikas on dais also.
