Malayamarutha varnam - deity identification
Namastey,
I need help to identify the deity in the Malayamarutham Varnam (Ganamrutha Varnamalika).
I tried real hard but could not identify but some clues given here
Sree Gunuturi pureesha - which means it's on a male deity and presiding lord of Guntur (Andhra Pradesh).
Charikamula suka madhukaramulu kokilamulu - this means I suppose in one hand the lord holds sukha (parrot) and the other kokilam (cuckoo),
To which God is this addresses?
This varnam is beautiful.

Re: Malayamarutha varnam - deity identification
This seems to be a padavarnam.
The word ibharaja varada in anupallavi
clearly indicates the deity as vishnu
Will clarify the meaning for the line later

Re: Malayamarutha varnam - deity identification
There is a temple in Lalapet Guntur.
It is dedicated to Sri Jagannatha, Sri Anjaneya and Sri Venkateshwara Swamy
The temple was built in 1717.
Probably this varnam is dedicated to Sri venkateswara swamy.
The meaning for the line *shArikamulu*::
the chirping sound of the shArika [talking bird],parrots,
honeybees,koels with their calls.

Re: Malayamarutha varnam - deity identification
Thank you . In the Mukthayi swara sahitya, I have :
ElarA ika EejAlamu CAlurA
tami TalanurA vadErA palukaRa
nirAdaramu ninnu sannithi salupaga
nalukutamElatarA palumAru
"Ika, Vadera, and sannithi" are the few words that vary in my version of the Ganamrutha Varna Malika book. Does the meaning change from the version you had sent me?
Thank you for your help!
