While all elements that make the music intellectually stimulating are present in
good measure, the soulful delivery and meditative approach makes the rasika
yield to the moment and just take in the music rather than worry about the
micro details that are needed to write a comprehensive concert review.
Vijay Siva gave an inspired sparkling performance for Nada Sudha at their
newly renovated premises (now air conditioned). Brilliant support from the
accompanists with well adjusted acoustics raised the level of the concert. While the
first part of the program was typically structured and covered all aspects of a carnatic concert brilliantly, the post thani part was all bhakthi and melody with items morphing from one to the next.

Some Observations
---------------------------
1. Gamanasramam alapana was well done presenting this rarely heard raga in its own right without traces of its more well known janya ragas.
2. Bilahari alapana was heart melting. A less flippant kriti would have gone great with the mood set in the alapana.
3. Bhairavi alapana had several original chiseled phrases, like something Ilayaraja would come up with. Vijay Siva's originality shone brightly here.
4. At the end of the Bhairavi alapana, an elderly gentleman climbed up on stage and heaped encomiums on the artistes and handed over some cash from his pocket which was respectfully declined.
5. Neraval and swaras in bhairavi was extensive with lot of nadai changes and multiple eduppus, almost resembling an RTP.
6. Vittala salago swamy was sung with the sweetest kenjal and konjal. Have heard this from Vijay Siva before. Would anyone know what Raga this is? Was a bit chaya natish
