The concert of Gayathri Girish accompanied by B.Ananthakrishnan on the Violin, H.S.Sudheendra on the Mridangam and Nerkunnam Sankar on the Ganjira was held in the 6.00 P.M slot as a part of the Sathguru Gnananda Sangeet Sammelan. List of songs.

Gayathri Girish has earned a special place in the minds of her ardent rasikas by presenting lot of thematic programmes- by doing adequate research on the concerned topics and selecting appropriate kritis and presenting them with confidence and conviction. The occasion being celebration of Sadguru Gnanananda, GG included many kritis hailing various Gurus. The voice of Gayathri Girish was very melodious retaining its fine timbre throughout and she could explore the various contours of the ragams with absolute ease and command. Her daughter Visruthi Girish provided vocal accompaniment and both the voices blended admirably

The rarely heard Gambheera nata Tarangam of Narayanateertha decorated with the sparkling rounds of swaras gave a bright start to the concert. Om Namasivaya, is a kriti on Adi Sankara – the Loka Guru- composed by Swarna Venkatesa Deekshitar. In the year 1947, Swarna Venkatesa Deekshitar came for the inauguration of Sankara Gurukulam in Abhiramapuram. As per the request of Thethiyur Subramania Sastrigal to compose a kriti on Adi Sankara, SVD composed nine kritis on Adi Sankara in different talams and this is one among those gems. KVN has popularised this song. A colourfully painted Poorvikalyani raga essay on a large canvas preceded the song Anandanatamaduvar Tillai of Neelakanta Sivan. The song was rendered with full fidelity to the mind of the composer and concluded with a luxurious weave of swaras at the pallavi with attractive swara combinations shared by Gayathri Girish and her daughter- the budding vidushi- Visruthi Girish. The next song Bhajare Loka Gurum in Khamas is a composition on Adi Sankara. Aparimita Guru Raghavendra is a soulful composition on Guru Raghavendra.

Sankarabharanam took the centre stage with elaboration focused on the madhya sthayi sancharas and the melodious upper region sojourns. Manadirkisaintha Manavalan of Harikesanallur Muthaiah Bhagavatar popularised by her Guru TNS offered adequate space for the singer to explore both the musical and emotional nuances of the composition. Initially when the song started, I was wondering how this songs fits into the theme of Guru. In the charanam of the song, the composer hails Murugan as Thanthaikku upadesitha Sadgurunathan. Appropriately this line was taken for neraval and the cascade of swara spins carried ample creativity and dynamism.

Sivaranjani- We have noticed this ragam only after Kurai Onrum illai. In this concert GG explored the myriad contours of this ragam extensively through the slokam Yadgopi mandala and the Ashtapadi Pravisarade.

Visruthi is blossoming into a consummate singer. Her swaras in Poorvikalyani showed that her manodharmam is opening up and she is in the right track. B.Ananthakrishnan played with good imagination. H.S Sudheendra and Nerkunnam Sankar embellished the concert with their understanding and anticipation. Sudheendra’s following of kritis was admirable and his filling of gaps received appreciation from the audience. An excellent concert for one and half hours.

So arudhi pada garbha objection cannot be raised - as his parama guru himself seems to have done it!
