An Inspired crisp concert for 2 hour 50 minutes.Malaji was in full energetic mode - Not a single dull second through out .

The alaaps were wonderful especially Ananda bhairavi ,Nasika bhushani and Madyamavati
Crisp swaram and neravals brilliant blowing were the highlight of an very enjoyable concert.

She mentioned it was the 4th Nava varnam and was written by oothukaadu

Madhavan was in fulll form be it in the alapana or swaras.

Rajesh Srinivasan was very subdued never interfering with the flautist but in the thani he was in full form bringing in the subtle speed changes
in the gati.

The 3 artists had a clear rapport as all of them were smiling through out and enjoying, as we enjoyed an immensely excellent concert.

I think the krithi is Yoga Yogeshwari. I recollect vaguely your other review many years back when Mala played a RTP in sbharanam or something . Also there was one another review where she played for 4 hours (I forgot who wrote it)- Mala is possibly 2 sikkil sisters put into one. Krithis like madhyamavathi as a main is a usual flautist favourite. Wish there is more reviews as it is navarathri season from all over chennai, bangalore and mumbai . Thank you.

Thanks Rajesh sir it is yoga yogeshwari. Since it was flute concert words dint register in my mind .She read the full song and explained the meaning.She also informed it was tuned by Ravikiran sir.It was a lively concert indeed.OMG you got a sharp memory and I salute .I myself forgot the reviews.Yes with my kid of 7 years I can attend concerts that are near my home.

I'm not sure I understand why Sri OVK's composition has to be tuned. Wasn't he a vAggEyakara? Can someone explain?
