brief review
My first concert of this vidushi having only heard with one of her CD that had the rAgathil shiranda rAgam ethu and her one nice song in tamil movie. I sat in the side stage as I did not get tickets on time(thanks to one lady who gave me one...). I was was not interested to stand in a long queue and buy ticket with this eka krithi counter(ridiculous academy, I missed most of the varnam too...). The excess lighting was killing me , but her music was very good.Brief highlights were

# detailed rAga alApanai of Simm madhyamAm was the best.

# mukhAri with a start of anupallavi settled well.Diction was perfect.

# jaganmOhini was quite good with a fairly expansive alApanai and a good swara prasthAram

# begadA tAnam was second best.

# She said she did a pancha nAdai pallavi. I felt there was just too much of tAlam thumping by her, but when she moved with the 5 rAgamAliga swarams she was very good. I could catch vasanta + atAnA + hameerkalyAni + bowli?? + ??. Incidentally she disclosed the name of the 5th raga as some mukhi??.How strange when she spells the name of the rAga , my head went blank and I did not connect it.

# She could have been little less expressive in devagAndharam, jingala was too fast (may be that is how the krithi is??)

# If there was something that I missed it was absence of swarams before the pallavi, even when present they were not that deep.Certainly I missed my sun glasses to get away from the excess flood light glare.

# I was in the canteen from tani till RAga of RTP. Interestingly my second cousin brother(chauffer) was also there. He proudly said that you can hear the concert with the audio out in the canteen itself. He also said that he only likes rAgas like sindhubhairavi and he hates the first half. That was him,he did not realize that sindhubhairavi was going on when he was swallowing that bajji and making that statement. I wish Academy stops feeding the audio out to the canteen

Interestingly, I didnot hear any excess sound possibly because that I sat in the side stage. But I also heard quite a lot of applause too from the stage .

I came in when the Begada alaapana was starting - it was a very competent alaapana. The tala for the Pallavi was quite interesting too: the five nadais incorporated were as follows (beats):

3.5+
4.5 +
2+
2.5+
1.5+

Thus 14*4 = 56 matras. I am not sure whether I got the starting point right though. It was handled well enough for trikaalam but in the korvai there was a small mix up which was soon resolved.

Rajesh/Vijay,
What was the tamizh tukkada in sindhubhairavi?

Nityashree's repertoire is always amazing. BTW, does the MMA decide on the accompanying artists? I am sure that she would have preferred her dad to accompany her.

i was there from start to end & a very good concert. She has better control over her voice now & the shriek is no longer there.
I was expecting an rtp after jaganmohini (may be due that fablous RTP by DKP with PMI in jaganmohini).

The begada rtp (gomukha pancha nadai as announced by Nithyashri)was very good but a bit too short. i just long for a 1 hr rtp instead of 20 min rtps for the sake of it.

Personally it feel the mrudhangam loses its majestic nadham at such a high sruthi.

The DKP/DKJ school sing 'shrImadi nAnvaya' in the Jaganmohini kriti. Shouldn't it be 'shrImad dinanvaya'?

Also, it should be 'Kayarohanesham':)........Just pointing this out because tamil mamas and mamis usually mangle my own name and call me 'magesh' (or even worse, 'makkesh'), instead of 'mahesh':).
