Even though Shiva is renowned for subduing Yama and protecting Markandeya, the credit is also given to Devi as it was his left leg (and his left half is Parvati) which kicked Yama down.

Even without the hair (leg?)-splitting, it is seen that the Leelas of Shiva and Parvati as ascribed interchangeably. MD himself says Ekamresha blessed Mookakavi, and in some Tiruppugazh songs, Devi is described as the one holding a skull or having burnt the Tripuras.
