The recently concluded annual concerts of Nadasurabhi were a great hit. The whole series was managed very ably. Behind the ambience and the smooth conduct of the programme featuring great artists giving the best must have been strenuous and meticulous planning and sweat.

"KSSR and team seem to have pulled off a great festival. Congratulations!"
K P Jayan has written:
"Sri TVG was awarded the prestigious ‘Sangitasurabhi’ award for 2016 today morning during the 23rd Annual Music Festival of Nadasurabhi. An award increases it value and credibility by the recipients of those awards. Nadasurabhi had been not only maintained the standard but by awarding this year award to another stalwart of Carnatic music, enhanced its reputation and value.
The award ceremony was crisp and brilliantly coordinated. I love the way Nadasurabhi conduct their annual festival. No dragging speeches, on stage review of concert, undue praising a mediocre performance as a concert of the century. This is the model other organisers to emulate. Mysore Subramnya spoke with elan as exepcted. TVG’s reply was short and sweet. Hence we had ample time for an almost full concert."
Thanks and Congratulations, Nadasurabhi.
Three cheers to Nadasurabhi

Re: Three cheers to Nadasurabhi
Bengaluru is bubbling with energy, also when it comes to CM, in recent years. Bless the town (but curse the traffic
).
When old sabhas are carrying on spiritedly, Nadasurabhi is a shining example of what can be done to keep CM hale and healthy. Over the years, I have been to concerts in their (home) hall (cosy, intimate), and to an annual festival concert. I can only add to what you super rasikAs in Bengaluru say. A no nonsense approach in organizing: no fuss, no blab, but well-organized events.
The KSSR couple and fellow organizers deserve praise, indeed...
Bengaluru is bubbling with CM these days. Let's not forget our man from Belanduru, and artistes like G.Ravikiran and others too who give us more hope for CM in the city into the future...
TVG lights up a place with his music and by his very presence. PranAms to him on the award

Re: Three cheers to Nadasurabhi
I feel Bangalore and sabhas like Nadasurabhi have many salutary factors.
1. A healthy degree of separation from the hustle-bustle of Chennai, which makes everyone including artistes and audiences feel a freshness about performing here.
2. No "pressure" or "politics" influencing programming
3. A huge audience of educated South Indians eager for culture.
4. A good set of accompanists on tap locally.
5. Multilingual audiences.
6. No mania like the December season.
7.Not too far from the centre of the universe (Chennai PIN code 600004)
What say?

Re: Three cheers to Nadasurabhi
I agree with all the observations by Rsachi. But very rarely these events are attended by local musicians except when they are performing. Many junior artists also do not feel the need to attend the concerts.
December season in chennai has its own unique features and is not to be dismissed lightly. The december season Music academy is attended by a number of musicians as well as by junior performing artists.May be this is driven by necessity that the Management has to notice the arists!
Some times i felt the need for light refreshment and coffee like in Gayana Samaja. This is due to travel in the thick traffic to reach the venue. But beggars cannot be chosers!.
Congratulations to KSSR for having pulled off yet another festival.
I glanced at the list of Nadasurabhi winners and felt like recommending M Chandrasekharan for the next award.

Yes, HNB, seeing more local musicians and upcoming artistes in the audiences would be good. To some extent, I have seen this in SRLKM and Gayana Samaja.
