A concert with poise and verve from the brothers.
GnanamosagarAda - nice swarams
tyAgarAja yOga vaibhavam - complete flow control. Interesting that they would have a go at it even at the loss of synchrony between them - feeling its caukam and kArvais with abandon. Else for a duet standard pAtantarams are dished out.
dayajUcuda kidhivELa - gAna vAridhi - Adi - tyAgaraja ( only rendition I have heard before is that of a TNS Album). Felt that they missed holding kArvai for an Avarta in bhava vAraNa mRg(E)... would have elevated better. But nicely rendered otherwise. Also a few round of svarams could have been added to ice it off.
kEdara gauLa was a good exposition from Ganesh. It seems though this rAga phrasings have a starting trouble - the ending is always more of the essence -
MAS return - he could avoid that easily. He started with "shatadhruti pUjita gajarAjuni" tune from Saraguna pAlimpa. Wrong guess?
tulasi bilva was somewhat different rendition in terms of syllable positions than from Sri Nedunuri. Seems a more rhythm oriented. Svarams were very interesting. Lot of patterns with sa-pa. Final kOrvai resembled what Dr BMK does usually.
Enjoyed the tani - especially the tiSram - from Tanjore Murgabhoopathy - what is usually a geometric kOrvai setup turned into Arithmetic progression 12 - 9 - 6. Good interaction with S.V Ramani.
Final kOrvai - 3 Avartas each round from samam ( IIRC) - adjusting to (1/4th) (3*64+2 = 194 mAtras) every time leading into the 3/4th eDuppu for uramuna. Too much of telescopic planning. Interesting to break it down.
Another instance of kappi Mridangam tone - good sound.
Had to stop listening here.
