Kamakshi - Swarajati - Yadukulakambodhi :
Ravikiran Informed that the composition has 11 charanas and he would play the sahitya part. Well said because the plucking (meettu) would be different for swara / sahitya and it was well brought out.

Bangalore Amrit (Kanjira)- not frequently seen in Chennai concert circuit- was superb.

Indeed.

Overall, I was dreading a sound overkill a la NGS's Malladi. Either Patri toned down the force or the sound engineers did a good job, or both - it was rather pleasant on one's ears!

Trivia - seems MC accompanied Ravikiran in 1980, when Ravikiran was 12! MC was lavish in his praise/appreciation for kannadamAruvA Alapanai - "indha rAgam idhuvarai kEttadhE illai. kalyAni maari romba nannA vasichiyEppa!"

I eagerly look forward to attend Ravikiran's concerts and lectures, whenever possible. It was a real privilege to attend this concert. It was a wonderful team performance. As always, the violin legend M Chandrashekharan played the dual role of being a keen rasika and performer on the stage.
Shyama Shastri's Yadukulakamboji swarajathi was rendered so gracefully. Those 10 min were enough to transcend me to the Carnatic world.
I had lost myself to the music. And, all the brilliant items that followed were a bonus!
As an aside, I had to leave when they started with Yarukagilum bhayama. Ironically (it being late in the day) I was fearful all along, during my solitary travel back to Ambattur.
