At the end, before Abhang, they said, “we were not prepared to come for this concert and had to cancel the same. ( I assume may be because of bad throat !) But God’s wishes and your (rasikAs) abundant love for Carnatic music made us to sit here.”
I was with Mr.Manickavasagam, father of Brinda, a well known musician, and he said, “if your attitude to your music is good, music will not let you down”. May be a simple statement but was very apt for this concert.
Sunday and Ra & Ga, -the entire hall was full. Even VIP wing was provided plastic chairs to sit. Even CBI director Mr.Raghavan was sitting in the chair. A dull road on a Sunday afternoon was full of traffic and chaos around and outside the hall.
It was another stellar performance by this duo. Right from Asaveri till the end. Well planned, at 5.30 PM, they finished all the main “uruppadis” including tani and started RTP. I felt, Chakravaham RtP at Brahma gAna SabhA was better than Ritigowla. Neverthless, ritigowla RtP, unheard, for a long time.
BUG, in violin, was not attractive and still could not hold or repeat Gayathri’s volley of brigAs. Where she took a grahabEdham in Abhogi and valaji in a lightning flash, BUG could not produce in his violin. His return for rAgA was good but not brilliant.
MS and AA were very good in Tani. With the “perfect” acoustics synonymous to Music academy, the entire atmosphere lifted the concert to another level.
What more a rasikA wants after attending Ra Ga in MA ?

Good points:
1. Ranjani pushed herself; she confidently touched the upper stayi so well.
2. Concert was planned well. They had enough time to deliver all aspects of the concert
3. Asaveri rendition was a good beginning.
4. Pallavi was delivered really well
Personal points:
1. Their Subha pantuvarali nereval and Swaram was not satisfactory at all. It sounded fast and there were repetitive sangatis/ swarams. Did not captivate my mood.
2. Mukhari rendition was very good. They delivered all the beautiful sangatis but somehow felt the the rendition lacked the depth and weight of mukhari.
3. Kambhoji ragam was just neat. gayatri's voice was not in good form, it did not win over my heart. Despite limitations, she captured all the important dimensions of the raga. That shows her vidwat.
4. Ranjani took up reethigowlai Ragam. It was okish

What amount of hardwork and planning would have gone into such fabulous recitals! Congrats sisters!
