Why not a THALIGAI Season in December every year!
The annual Music Season is on.
It will come to a close in a few days.
Every Music Sabha has an adjunct nowadays -
a Catering Service which whets your appetite
and delights your taste buds.
If the stuff provided inside the Auditorium is boring
and not to your taste -
which is generally the case - the Catering Malls
compensate you fully and richly.
'Sevikku unavu illathapothu siridhu vayitrukkum eeyappadum'.
In South American countries, there are regular Food Festivals.
I would advise all leading caterers in the city - Pattappa, Chellappa,
Vinayaga, Gnanambikai, Mookambikai, Mountbatten, Arusuvai and the like -
to discuss amongst themselves and
decide about starting a Thaligai Season annually,
coincidentally or otherwise, with Music Season.
The idea will catch up and the Music Halls will become appendages
to the Catering Malls.
At the end of the season, a Virudhu will be given away
for the best item served -
say a Mountbatten Iddli, a Pattappa Thayir Vadai,
a Vinayaga Poori Masala.
Having heard those days, sankarabaranam of Madurai Mani,
Muhari of Musiri, Mohanam of Maharajapuram, Khamboji of Ariakkudi,
Thodi of Rajarathinam, Kalyani of GNB, I want to change track
and taste only the stuff provided in the Catering Marts.
And give them a Title too!
For instance, THALIGAI THALAPATHY!
Do you agree?
A thought may be given please.
