Best concert I attended to-date: Sanjay @ Tamil Isai Sangam (29 Dec 2016)

My pick of the season, and by far my favourite concert EVER!!! Will post my review asap but here's a couple of snippets for now. I am just so thrilled and feel so blessed after attending this concert in person. There are not enough words in any language to describe how awesome this was: it was an experience; an anubhavam; the auditorium was jam-packed with people of all ages and almost everyone was in awe I felt. There are 854 seats or thereabouts in that auditorium for those who are unaware.

ANum peNNum nigarenak 'koLvadAl'--for your ? mark.

bEgaDa varNa beginning, so pleasing, mAyA vAmananE a stand out from ragA to end, and yes, yadukula kAmbhOdi was something I was waiting for a long while to hear, but did not recognize the composition. a arjunA, indicated it's a bhAratha based piece.

This evening,I bet a totally different experience in store at ArjunA's mentor site--ParthA's sArathy's...

Yesterday, Times of India, chennai edition published an article elevating Sanjay as , "Superstar, Thalaivar, Tamill Hero SS" and also added "Today social media has made it easier for fans to share their enthusiasm and adulation for their favourite singer". There is also a group of 25 people in a facebook "sanjay fans"- TOI adds.

for submain and main, he took Virutham as the "song" to give space to RTP. Good planning.

Let me talk about panamE kriti. It is 3rd time, in a row, he sings in the concert and everytime, he gets applause. I thought of uploading this kriti and give the tamil version for me to understand the lyrics completely. Everyone likes this kriti as this kriti, penned by Vedhanayagam pillai still holds the meaning:

When he sang this for Vijay TV MMU, The "moodi" became "Modi" and it was fresh after the demonetization mess and this got the audience to their feet cheering. Have never seen anything like this in a Carnatic concert.

mAyA, vAmananE has magnificent lines, bringing god's creation and the glory of his benevolence.

paNamE is not only topical, it has folksy wisdom. Had it been old times, it would have been played in tea shops all across tamiz nADu, as many of MKT's hit songs were

Thanks for lyrics. Honestly I dint get the lyrics of aduthanai and maya vamananai. I was surprised Sanjay was bit unclear or was it my son was complaining to me of mosquitos or I am getting old.

I haven't come across this song by Vedanayagam Pillai. Just wondering if this line:

தேடி உன்னை வைத்து மூடி அவர்க்கு நீ தீர்க்காயுசைத் தருவாயோ

is actually:
தேடி உன்னை வைத்து மூடியவர்க்கு நீ தீர்க்காயுசைத் தருவாயோ ?

which would be a rhetorical question: Would you (money) give a long life to those who seek you (greedily) and keep you covered (like in a vault)?

This was the first time I saw the lyrics of a kriti drawing repeated applause from the audience, both at BGS and MA.
