Music Academy Season 2016 Awardees

Can one of Chennai forumites share the Music Academy Awards of the just concluded Music season?

It looks the academy even for senior slots have picked up the new senior entrants for most of the awards. The message is clear - There is a new crop of new talent that needs to be recognized. This is the limited information that i heard

Senior Awards

Amrutha Venkatesh and K gayatri got the outstanding vocalist. Kunnnakudi Balamuralikrishna got the best pallavi . The coveted yogam nagaswamy award has gone to Ramakrishnan murthy.

I heard RK Shriramkumar got violin award . Not sure about others in this

I heard sriranjani santhanagopalan, vidya kalyanaraman got .Bharathsundar and G Ravikiran got in this slot.

Kalyanapuram aravind , aishwarya vidhya raghunath and bharathi ramasubban got it

I would like to know on other percussionist category. I have my qualms on few of those considering other competitors , but i did not attend any of the concerts in academy, so keep my opinion with myself. Best wishes and congratulations on all those who got. Awards are awards

In the senior slot apart from two outstanding vocalist (which is not segregated as male and female), and yogam nagaswamy. To the best of my knowledge there used to be only one for a team . NOw this year there is two for a team - one is best and other outstanding (savita, ra ga and team). Best wishes to the team.

About 5 or 6 years back there used to be so many awards with many endownment. It was a nightmare to know then who is reallly awarded and who is also awarded . I wish they go to with only one that way it is clear for all we rasikas

Incidentally RKSK and Mannargudi Easwaran played for morning concert for vedavalli and Rudrapatnam respectively (Looks TVS was replaced by rudrapatnam). Many years before for a morning concert of NGS he got the yogam nagaswamy . So as such morning and evening I and Evening II concerts are in par i Guess.

Looks they gave it young for all the vocalists and gave the experienced easwaran and RKSK . Atleast looking from outside it is bit like my kid participating in competitions where at times the awards itself have an underlying theme of balancing giving to more youth and also giving to experienced as two consolations.

What is Best Vocalist and waht is Outstanding Vocalist

Leave out the adjectives, and if there are more than one special artiste and they do not want to leave them out, I would think it's a nice idea--the adjectives coming in handy to recognize more than one artiste.

Who are the members of the jury?
What is the age bar for senior / sub senior / junior categories? (Thank God, there's no 'Super senior' category : the 9 a.m. slot.)
What is the difference between 'best' and 'outstanding'? (does it correspond to lakshana and lakshya music?)

In any case, Music academy (also rightly called 'Meccademy') is THE Centre space of the season and Sangita kalanidhi is the Oscar of Carnatic music.

They should do away with these awards. Has become like the JEE where kota & chaitanya coach for the test
