The kutcheri season post Jan slightly changes color in sabha spread . Big tier sabhas switch their patronage from music to dance . There are some sabhas which purposely schedule their concert season starting around Jan 01st like astika samajams of thiruvanmiyur and alwarpet.

I have been to this sabha before infact from the avatar where it was only having asbestos roof. The last time I think I visited for brinda , the echo of hall was lousy and there were higher share of musquitoes. Now both are kind of gone . Also I did have a chance to travel in MRTS train where mandaveli station is just there like a parking lot for the sabha . Possibly if velachery and st thomas mount is connected we can have far better patronage as commute is much much easier

I went late and missed both the shree gananatham and meru samana . I love the mmg that too with a little restrained touch of muse in this krithi it is sad miss. As i entered the jolly old cherubic anandabhairavi just got started . The team was already in a zone - there was nice touch where the emote was preserved perfectly and I loved it.

After a really short alapana in bahudari , RKSK began the brovabharama from anupallavi. ganakaladhara crescendo of swaras were also played and i enjoyed . The days best was indeed kapi. His bow was centered on ragabhavam and I liked totally in the way he played . The delicacy of coffee was not strong , but kApi had its pleasing shades of aura.

Kambodhi alapana was bit restrained , i wish he covered more .Another anupallavi start and with lovely neraval , KamBodhi was madhyamakAla beauty. Swaras had nice touch keeping it with the overall mood where he played bit sober. The bhavayAmi thukkada was so rare and I enjoyed his ragamaliga presentation - particulary mohanam and mukhari was lovely. His own tune in hameer was not hat intensely satisfying. the last tirruppavai could have had a bit more leisure. The pick of the whole tukkadas was unquestionably MDR bhageshree -sowkhyam to the core.

Possibly if there was a bit more expansion in KAmbOdhi in the alapana I would have enjoyed it . RKSK ragabhavam is nice and few ragas like Kapi and Bhageshri with his sowkhyam centric approach were intense to me . In KAmbOdhi i did notice in swaras ,in quick change to demonstrate few laya patterns they were not that clean to my ears.

J Vaidyanathan is a fantastic artist , he continued to be quite strokeful like a ping pong top spin artist and I enjoyed it .He controlled volume and Trichy Murali ensured that he was tagging along well . Murali is a very positive and always smiling artist and his taps always have azhuttam and he paired with the same excellance as JV . Tani was a simple one and i liked it as RKSK raga bhava was not lost during tani. vidushi Amrutha Murali guided me with the songlist that i missed and also the hameer krithi.RKSK gives a pencil like sketch in violin and for ragas like kapi and bhageshri the melody and sowkhyam was indeed there and those were my best picks.

OVerall a very good to excellent concert for 2 hours.
