Wonderful concert by the Vidushi and team.

For me, this was a completely contrasting experience compared to the previous day's concert (viewtopic.php?f=13&t=28751) : The previous one was a heavily attended concert (300-400+ people, full hall) vs this one which started with around 20 and grew to 50+ people (also resulting in a much more silent experience). Compared to the failing voice in previous concert, this was one where the artiste's voice was in wonderful shape and combined with here vidwat, things were in full flow. The atmosphere was serene and intense. People were so engrossed in music that people were hesitant to clap, lest they disturb the flow and all appreciation was made with "silent" ahas, balehs and head turns.

The varnam was very neatly rendered. She quickly moved into the pantuvarAli kriti and I was very happy when she took up neraval so early in the concert. The neraval and swaras were done nicely. The suraTi alapana was very good, kriti was rendered without any further embellishments. After the filler, the detailed alapana of dharamAvati followed and the nerval at niravadhi sukha was again very good. The main raga chosen for the day was kambOji, which she started very nicely with detailed exploration at the mandra/madhya stayi, and then built it up slowly and steadily, with nice movements. Wonderfully done! Tanam followed the alapana. Then she announced that instead of pallavi, she will be presenting O ranga Sayee with neraval at bhUlOka vaikunTha (as today is vaikunTha ekadasi). The neraval was done nicely and swaras were presented in detail, with a good amount of time spent exploring madhyama kala swarams. After a brief interruption for speech and felicitation, the post main items were presented, each of which were rendered nicely (was happy to hear the punnAgavarAli).

Aditi Krishnaprasad supported very nicely on violin and her returns were good and of appropriate length. Prashanth on mridangam did a very good job, blended nicely with the song, volume was just right and he played with good anticipation. Thani was short and nice!

What a nice way to end a weekend!

Popularity and quality unfortunately do not go hand in hand. There is another concert of PS at SRLKM tomorrow at 5.45 . Would love to go. I have to spend 1.5 hrs one way. That is the biggest problem.
