Prema Rangarajan, a vidushi with a wide repertoire, sang for the Parthasarathy Sabha at 4 pm on 30th dec 2006. Look at the list of songs. Have you heard many of them in the curcheri circuit?
Siddhi Vinayakam Mohana Kalyani
Ongi ulagalantha Arabhi
Sri Parthasarathina Suddha Dhanyasi
Thamarai Kangal Hamsanandi
Chalu Chalu Saveri
Rangapathe Kanada
Neramemi Napai Thodi
Sri Ranganatha Bageshri
Thi thi thillana Mohanam
I do not know the composer of the Hamasanandi and Bageshri songs. The Thodi song is , I think, of Mysore Vasudevacharya.
Raga versions of Suddha Danyasi, Hamsanandi and Thodi and the swaras thereto reminded you vividly of the M L V. school…imaginative and intellectual. The kritis were sung with great care for the diction and meaning. And that is to say a lot.
V. Sanjeev on the violin and Nellai Balaji on the mridhangam were very supportive and responded gamely to the kanakku swaras.
A I R recorded the concert. Perhaps listen to it when it is broadcast...

Dear Saranga, i am the last person to project anybody . only my view that at least four out of eight songs were new. I doubt whether many sing Rangapathe of Margadarsi Sesha Iyengar. Perhaps my listening is not as extensive. The reference to AIR recording was that if anyone was interested they may perhaps listen to at least a few of the new songs.
Sorry, if i have created an impression that i am projecting any person.
