I was happy to make it to this concert, since the whole team is of my liking. Also, while there were many concerts in Naada Inbam with Shri RKSK on the fiddle, this was the only one during my time in Chennai with Shri Manoj Siva on the mridangam.
To me, the whole team is familiar, and established, and yet, I was just not feeling the impact for most of the concert. I could sense that Vidushi Amritha's throat wasn't very cooperative. But maybe I was caliberated to extremely high standards of impactfulness of music.
I think there was some other unfamiliar kriti or two between the MMG & Arabhi. I was also surprised to hear MD's mudra in Arabhi, and was still more surprised to find out it's actually attributed to him.
I was longing for something familiar by the time kharaharapriya rAgam was done -- maybe a rAma nIyeDa. Somehow the mukhAri at Smt Rama Ravi's concert, with Emani nE reminded me of TRV, and I longed to hear some of his favourites.
The kAmbhOji krti was done beautifully, and the concert began to work somewhat better after then.
The viruttam was very well done. I enjoyed it more than AlApanais, and thought maybe Amritha is able to work better with the "structure" provided by the lyrics.
The rAgamAlika song was also nice.
I also found the new year's greeting at the end of the concert very heartwarming.
