Accompaniments:
V V S Murari - Violin
Erode Nagaraj - Mridangam
Had not heard Kiranavali sing in 2-3 seasons now, but after hearing her excellent talk on MSS's RTPs and the Evolution of the concert format, I did not want to miss her singing this season.
1. ???
2. Durusuga - Kedaram - Rupaka - Karur Devudu Iyer - Another attractive little piece in this raga, even though the tune is similar to other Rupaka tala kritis. Good round of swarams.
3. Ranganayakam - Nayaki - Adi - Muthuswami Dikshitar
4. Narasimhagachcha - Mohanam - Mishra Chapu - Muthuswami Dikshitar - I was very happy with the surprise inclusion of back-to-back Dikshitar kritis. I found Kiranavali's alapana of this ragam to be unusually classical and charming. The swara exchanges between the artists were lively and topped off with an interesting korvai.
5. RTP Kharaharapriya (Maalmaruganai ninaindidu maname, diname kaname udaviya) - Khanda Triputam - Again very good alapana. Enough weightage given to Tanam which got crisp treatment. Niraval started off very well but she seemed to lose her concentration slightly in the fast speed, but recovered immediately for the swarams. Again some crisp and patterned finishes with a beautiful finale.
6. Neematale - Purvikalyani - Adi - ?? - An elegant rendition of this classic Javali from the Brindamma stock.
I was impressed with her rich voice and tone. She brought serious music with a lot of finesse, ease and no frivolity. There was a good audience turnout which was esp heartening on a weekday afternoon.

A friend said that the first piece was Manasuloni in Shuddha Hindolam. Want to add good sruti adherence to the pluses.
