An excellent start to the cool morning (after a heavy downpour the previous night) with prabatha sangeetham on violin by Vid.Vaibhav Ramani.
Clarity of sangathis in kriti and ragam rendering and a rich tone marked his playing.
He commenced his recital with a rare hamsadhwani piece of Gopalakrishna bharathi, deva jagannatha charanam. This was followed by the dikshithar piece Veera Hanumanthe in ragam kaanada with a short raga alapana. This was followed by very beautiful simhendramadhyamam and Ninne nammithi of Mysore Vasudevachar. A short neraval and swaras concluded this piece. This was followed by a quick Sada Madim of St.Thyagaraja in Gambeeravani. This was followed by a standard chaste todi and Shri krishnam bhaja manasa. Vaibhav finished the session with a composition of his guru kumaresh in ragam Bahudari. A racy piece which was apt for the violin.
It was good to see a good audience turnout for these morning sessions.
God bless these young talented artistes with more opportunities to pursue their passion.
Regards,
Vasudevan

It was indeed a refreshing morning experience. Vaibhav's playing was clean and bowing smooth. Swarasthaanas were perfect.
Don't think that I had heard this kaanada piece before. Simhendra madhyamam was my natural love. Enjoyed it. Kumaresh's thillana had very interesting step progression which was repeated several times for mphasis. Very impressive. This is a piece worth popularising.
The youngster has great potential. No stage freight. Calm and composed. Would not be bad idea if he plays as accompaniment to different styles of singing. That would improve the breadth of learning to play in any situation. Solo is probably less challenging. Wish Vaibhav a great musical future both as an accompaniment and also solo artist.
Sincere thanks to Sri.Vasudevan and family for organising it. He is developing into an innovator in music and as a guru, using many modern tools for communicating with his students and the general music community besides the standard channels of one to one learning. Wish him continued success in his endeavours.
