A very sedate concert . RKM sang brilliantly ,

Dhanyasi and sahana alaapanai and songs were good . The rendering of Kadaikan had itsfast beautiful moments.

Janbubathe was sung with Passion

Charumathy was able support and it was nice she started thanam and swaram in RTP

When Arun prakash is there no fireworks or fast beats and Anirudh followed him.

Wish RKM had chosen some fast numbers too as all songs were in chauka kalam

Neverthless A beautiful concert by RKM.

pAlinchu was mesmerising, he. sang all the 3 charaNAs

kaDaikkaN had all the 3 charaNas sung, N was in the second charaNam, this was sung at an apt speed for the song.

There was no swaras in dhanyAsi. the kAlapramANam of this song was apt for the song

vIravasantam had a brisk AlApana and an equally superb cameo by Charumati. there were rapid fire swaras in 2nd speed for the song. the violinist matched and at times even had better responses in the swaras!!

Lot of slow swaras in giripai, followed by a long swaras in 2nd speed with korappu in rishabham. The tani was surprisingly aggressive in my opinion. The bulk of the tani was in different naDai and it came to chaturashra naDai only when the two percussionists combined. I thought it was quite an intricate tani.

The RTP had tAnam in bEhag and darbAri kAnADa after kharaharapriya. Anulomam was done with aplomb...

Pallavi was followed by mouLau gangA - the evergreen shlOka popularised by SSI. RKM sang it in beautiful sindhubhairavi, bEhAg, kApi and a touch of yamunAkalyANi, before proceeding to sing jambupatE.. in a soulful manner.

Kindly help me understand the words of the pallavi:
- Sadguru Kripai indri ye vazhvil sadgati peravum kudumo isayaal nammai aalum
Does it mean
The grace of the Sadguru confers on us the elevation to liberation in this birth itself through giving us (the right kind of) music

Thanks in advance!

I hope RKM doesnt become one of those only Chauka kalam songs type singer. I loved this concert of his from 5 years ago on youtube which has fast pieces too:

You got the gist right, but it is a question rather than a statement.

Is it possible to achieve liberation sans the grace of the Sadguru that rules us through his music

I posted saying that the concert was not chowka kala based. kaDaikkaN and bAlakrishnan were sung in the kAlapramANam normally sung typically by KVN. vIravasantam was brisk with an adventurous R and S thrown in.

The pallavi in Mishra tripuTa (2) was brisk. The only sedate pieces were pAlinchu, giripai and jambupatE, as they rightly should be sung

Sankark,
Thanks!
I think I got it :
Without the grace of the Sadguru who rules us through music (it can be interpreted as Saint Thyagaraja), is it at all possible for us to get liberation in this life?

Depending on Mridangam he can curate his concert it seems!. I would say a versatile artiste. As long as it does not go to TMK 2.0 level , it is fine. He maintains correct proportion. Arun may lose emphasis when things get slow.

Those two must have had their get up moments - knowing him and Arun! Had to have been there to know it!

In fact this discussion set me thinking. I now feel Arun has such an effect on the main performer to the extent that the pace of delivery is moved down a notch or two.

Not true. He also accompanies artistes like RaGa sisters and I have not noticed any slowing down on the pace there.

Hello,

If "https://shankarkrish.wordpress.com" is your website, can you please upload MMI, OST, and Maharajapuram concerts if possible?
