Off shoot of the Nalinakanti thread - with the hopes of exploring the folksy/classical aspect of sindhubhairavi. DRS - May i request you to please start this off with your customary initial brief?

Raga having links with Hindustani.Janya of 8th according to some,and 10th as per some other texts.Usage of virtually all swaras.Evoke bhakthi rasa,usually sung at the second part of the concert.There are plenty of bhajans.Favourite of light music directors.Two such songs comes to mind,Ilayaraja?s ?enna satham inta neram?(see how it starts with all komal swaras?pdmpgrs)and ?valai osai?.
Listen to K.N. Ranga natha sharma?s viruttam followed by Bhaja bhaja manasa
Sharma teaches music at Madurai college,another promising young vocalist.

Sindhu bairavi is my favourite ragam. In my humble opinion, it is not to be confused with Hindusthani bairavi. ..in which there are quite a few nice hindi film songs. but the only Sindhubairavi film song is in Anuradaha ( music director Pandi Ravishankar). If I am not mistaken, there is no kruthi in this ragam by Thyagaraja Swami. .'Venkatachala nilayam' is not by Purandhara dasa according to some learned critics. MS ofcourse, loved this ragam along with Chenchurutti. ( again, is there any kruthi by Thayagaraja in Chenchurutti?) ... Alatthoor brothers have sung Chandrasekara Eesaa, in Sindhubairavi.

varsha ji-> Thank you. Even Parikkar is not convincing. Pardon my impudence . Just sharing my perception of the difference between HM Bairavi and CM Sindhubairavi. . The song Engum Nirainthaye is most likely to be Hindusthani Bairavi.

When we hum the song. third stanza of MS classic 'Maalaip pozhuthinile'
beginning with an one second background nectar and stanza 'chandhiran venpurum un mukatthil chanchalam thondruvathen' . ,it is almost ready to go into Bairavi(hm) but the very next line 'munthaoipitavikali' takes us to usual sindhubairavi.

There were a total of 24 songs in Sakuntalai. A couple of songs were longer than usual and the gramophone company had to issue special large sized records for them..
Lakshman ji, Can you kindly give the complete list of songs and if possible links to mp3? Are we losing about a dozen gems of MS?
